Commitment Securing

A dimension of the WTF Sales Method focused on obtaining incremental commitments throughout the sales process that build momentum toward the final decision.

DEFINITION

Commitment Securing is a dimension of the WTF Sales Method that breaks the final buying decision into a series of smaller, progressive commitments. Rather than asking for one big "yes" at the end, effective sellers secure micro-commitments throughout the process — each one making the next one easier and more natural.

The WTF Method identifies key commitment points: agreeing the problem is real, agreeing the problem is worth solving, agreeing the proposed approach makes sense, agreeing the timing is right, and agreeing to take the next step. Each commitment reduces the psychological distance to the final decision.

Commitment Securing also serves as a diagnostic tool. When a prospect won't commit to a small step (like scheduling a follow-up meeting or introducing you to another stakeholder), it reveals hidden objections or lack of genuine interest. Better to discover this early than to invest weeks in a deal that was never going to close. The seller can then address the real obstacle or redirect their energy.
